Changes for the Better

To be 100% honest I have 0 talent when it comes to sports, I have tried almost every sport there is and I never picked up on any of them. I knew I had to do something in my high school years, so I thought for awhile about what I could do for others. I like volunteering and I know it looks good on college applications so I applied at a few places to volunteer at. I got the opportunity to volunteer at all the places I applied, I can truthfully say it is helping me more as a person, then I am helping the people that need my help. Seeing people that have less than me, physically and mentally really makes a difference on one, it makes me see how lucky I am to walk on my own, speak normally, and be independent and not having to rely on anyone. I use to be this bratty, self centered, rude, girl who didn't care about anyone or about anything really and just went through life not seeing what can be done in the world to make others lives easier, when I turned 15, I really did change entirely as a person, I had to give myself the ultimate reality check, and see the reality for others that aren't around me. Im not sure why I didn't get into a better mindset earlier, maybe it was because I knew I would be sad to see the truth of kids my age not as fortunate as me. If you are reading this I encourage you to volunteer a couple times a year, maybe around the holidays, Toys for Tots, or Salvation Army, or just going to a homeless shelter and serving people a hot meal, anything to make someones day better, I promise you, if you do one of these things you'll realize that you have a lot more, than you think, I hope giving back can help you grow as a person because it really has made me a better person.
